- Are interested in developing practical animal care skills and supporting theoretical understanding
- Enjoy working outdoors, with large and small animals
- Are considering a career which involves working with animals
This course consists of developing a wide range of animal care skills and knowledge, one day per week, through:
- Taking part in taught sessions and group discussions
- Gaining experience at equestrian centres, farms, kennels and animal trainers
- Participating in group practicals
- Working within commercial businesses and charities
You also gain experience in the following areas:
- Maintaining animals - horses, farms animals and small animals
- Animal Health - treatments and preventions
- Animal nutrition
- Handling, restraining and transporting animals
- Exercising, training and grooming animals
- Maintenence and construction of animal accommodation and boundaries
- Completing a range of units in order to gain the Level 1 or 2 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Animal Care
