Course Information
The qualification could involve developing practical skills and knowledge in the the following areas:
- Agriculture
- Animal Care
- Horticulture
- Horse Care
The course could involve one day per week away from school:
- Feeding, cleaning out, undertaking routine health checks and administering treatments to farm animals, horses or small animals
- Maintaining and constructing fences, animal accommodation and wildlife areas
- Creating and maintaining landscapes, growing plants, trees and shrubs
- You will need to complete a range of units in order to gain the Level 1 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Work-based Land Based Operations.
Further Course Information:
This course could lead to:
- An Apprenticeship in Agriculture, Horticulture or Animal Care (Level 2)
- Enhanced employment opportunities
- Greater access opportunities to Further Education
Assessment
- On-going practical assessments carried out in the workplace
- Development of a portfolio of evidence to prove your level of competence and understanding
