Use of Chainsaw Courses
CS30:
Level 2. Assessed on operator safety during maintenance, carry out routine and periodic maintenance, start and check the machine, operator safety during use, cross cut timber that is less than the guidebar's length in diameter, stack cross cut timber.
CS31:
Level 2. Must hold CS30. Fell trees with a diameter of 200-380mm. Assessed on risk assessment and emergency procedures, preparing equipment, fell small trees, fell leaning trees, remove branches, cross cut stems, stack timber and take down mall hung-up trees with hand tools.
CS32:
Level 2. Must hold CS30 and CS31. Fell trees over 380mm. Assessed on risk assessment, emergency procedures, fell trees, sned and de limb, cross cut, select winching equipment, remove hung-up trees with winch.
CS39:
Level 2. Must have CS30, 31 and 38. Based on trees of 380mm or over. Assessed on identifying and inspecting key components of the machine, preparing the equipment and operating safely using a rope and harness.
CS45:
Level 2, must have CS30. Assessed on setting up the site, sending up the saw and other equipment, operate lowering equipment, breaking down crown pieces, handling and stacking arisings.
CS48
Identify and inspect key components of the machine, prepare the equipment, carry out maintenance, operate the powered pole pruner safely, understand emergency procedures and carry out risk assessment.
