Transport of Animals by Road Course
Course Level:
Level 2 for short or long journeys.
Course Notes:
Short or long journey can be done on sheep, cattle, cattle and sheep, pigs, poultry, horses, game birds and goats.
Assessment:
Short = up to 65km or 8 hour. Assessed by GOLA of 27 questions, need 21 to pass. Assessed on legal responsibilities, planning the journey, vehicle suitability, checking fitness of the animals, signs of stress, density in transit, handling of the animals and post journey procedures.
Long= over 8 hours in transit. Assessed by same GOLA as short but also a practical observation.
