SCHOOLS

We work with numerous schools across the East Midlands to provide land-based vocational qualifications to 14-16 year old pupils.  This part-time provision allows pupils to access City and Guilds Level 1 or 2 qualifications in Agriculture, Animal Care, Horticulture, Horse Care or Land-based Operations.

The provision gives pupils the opportunity to study a subject that interests and motivates them and this is evidenced by our success rate. Pupils gain a nationally accredited qualification that will help them access further study, training or employment.  A large number progress onto work-based Apprenticeships - the remaining pupils progress into employment or other FE.

There are currently 3 options available:

  • Individual Placement- pupils work within commercial businesses and are visited every 3 weeks. Their dedicated tutor carries out assessments, reviews progress and mentors the students to ensure success.
  • Group Option- Pupils are taken out by a DART tutor in a minibus to a range of commercial workplaces where they develop practical skills, knowledge and complete their assessments.
  • Hybrid Option- Pupils work in a commercial business for two of every three weeks. In the third week, students are together in a group for theory sessions in the morning and enjoy visits or practical activities in the afternoon.

What QUALIFICATIONS WILL THEY GAIN?

We are able to offer a range a qualifications to suit the ability of each pupil; these include Level 1 Awards, Certificates and Diplomas; Level 2 Extended Certificates.

WHAT IS THE ENTRY PROCESS?

School and the learner complete an application form. A member of the School Team will then carry out an interview with each pupil.  Parental consent forms will also be issued and we will work with school to determine the most suitable level and qualification. Placements are sought and Health and safety checks carried out.

WHAT IS THE PROGRESSION ROUTE?

From the age of 16, we can progress pupils onto our Study Programmes, Traineeships and/or Apprenticeships.
